RECENTLY YOU RECEIVED A LETTER AND BALLOT TO VOTE ON A NEW PROCEDURE FOR SELECTING THE PERSONNEL COMMISSION. TEAMSTERS LOCAL 572 ENCOURAGES YOU TO VOTE YES AND RETURN THE BALLOT BEFORE OCTOBER 7, 2002.
2002 –2005 CONTRACT HIGHLIGHTS
2002/2003
· 3% Salary increase, on the salary schedule, retroactive to July 1, 2002
· Fund the increase cost of Health and Welfare (est. 2.5% increase)
For 2002/2003, if the District voluntarily enters into a collective bargaining agreement with any other classified bargaining unit which provides for a general percentage increase on the salary schedule in the 2002-2003 contact year which is greater than the general percentage increase on the salary schedule provided for Unit S employees in the 2002/2003 contract year, the general percentage increase on the salary schedule for Unit S employees will increase to equal such greater general percentage amount.
2003/2004
· L.A.U.S.D. and the Teamsters agree to reopen Article XIV (Salary and Wages)
· L.A.U.S.D. and the Teamsters agree to reopen Article XV ( Health and Welfare)
· Teamsters may reopen on two (2) additional contract sections.
2004/2005
· L.A.U.S.D. and the Teamsters agree to reopen Article XIV (Salary and Wages)
· L.A.U.S.D. and the Teamsters agree to reopen Article XV (Health and Welfare)
· Teamsters may reopen on two (2) additional contract sections.
ALL UNDERLINED LANGUAGE IS NEW TO THE CONTRACT
NEW – 13.0 On a maximum of two (2) occasions during a school year (up to a cumulative total of eight (8) hours in a school year), to attend a funeral of a close friend or relative not included in the definition of immediate family (immediate family as defined under Personal Necessity).
1.0 (c) The District encourages its employees to obtain work specific degrees and additional professional certificates for the purpose of increasing the employee’s knowledge, understanding and skills as related to the employee’s employment by the District. The course(s) or programs must be directly related to the employee’s current or further service within the District and for such purpose.
1. In the event that legislation is enacted during the 2002-2003 school year, which provides for enhancements to PERS, for which Unit S employees would be eligible, upon request from the Teamsters, the District, without obligation, will, during 2002-2003 school year, meet and confer regarding such legislation.
2. Teamsters encourages the District, during 2002-2003 school year, to consider adopting, as
appropriate, an early retirement incentive for Unit S employees.
