About Rick Middleton

After serving in the U.S. Army, Secretary-Treasurer Rick Middleton began his Teamster life in 1968 as a member of Local 186, working as a ready-mix driver for Moorpark Ready-Mix. When work slowed down in the construction industry, Rick took a job as a driver for Certified Grocers where he served as a Shop Steward for eight years.

In 1979 Rick was offered a position as a Business Representative for Local 848. While working long days representing members in various industries, he was elected President of Local 848 for fifteen of the twenty-one years he remained at the Local. Finally, in October of 2000 General President Hoffa appointed him to act as Trustee for Local 572. Two years later, after a complete renovation of the Local and its staff, the membership elected him as Secretary-Treasurer, an office he holds to this day.

Since his election as principal officer of Local 572 in 2002, Rick has held several prominent positions with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) and Teamsters Joint Council 42, including Western Region Vice President for the IBT, Director of Passenger Transportation for the IBT, IBT International Representative, and Trustee for Joint Council 42. Currently, Rick serves as the Treasurer for Teamsters Joint Council 42. He also serves as a Trustee on various pension and health and welfare trusts.
